FEMA assistance available

Pierce County residents are eligible for assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The county has been included in the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Helene.

Specific guidelines for assistance available for individuals and households can be found at www.fema.gov/assistance/individual/pr ogram.

Disaster assistance is available at disasterassistance. gov.

A disaster relief help line is also available at 1 (800) 621-3362.

Residents who apply for assistance will be given a FEMA registration number. This number will need to be saved for all interactions with FEMA.

Disaster assistance for those who qualify is available by direct deposit. An account and routing number will need to be provided.

FEMA staff are in the area and will begin having home visits to assist homeowners with the application process for qualifying disaster relief funding.

Visits take place during the hours of 7 a.m.-7 p.m. FEMA staff will have photo identification cards. Don’t give personal information to anyone who is unable to provide identification.

Disaster assistance is available without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, English proficiency or economic status.
