BES accepting applications for council

Blackshear Elementary School is accepting applications for the 2024-2025 School Council. The council meets four times per year. Those who would like to nominate someone or themselves to serve a 2-year term, are asked to apply in person at the front desk during the week of October 21. Four new members will be accepted this year. If more than four are interested parents will be notified and a vote taken October 28 at the the school. The first BES school council meeting will be held at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, November 7.

Friends of the Library meeting rescheduled The October 15 meeting of the Friends of the Library has been canceled due to the effects of Hurricane Helene. The meeting has been rescheduled for November 19. The Friends of the Library are currently seeking a vice president, secretary and treasurer. If you are interested in any of these positions or helping to raise funds for our local library, please attend.

Rotary members will collect, repair flags Over the next two weeks, Blackshear Rotary Club will be collecting flags from our subscribers for repair. If your flag is in need of repair, please place it in a visible location – on the porch or near mailbox, etc. – so that a club member can pick it up for repair. The Club will be working to repair or replace all flags and put them out again ahead of Veterans Day next month.

OATH seeks help with meals for the homeless Okefenokee Alliance for The Homeless (OATH) is seeking help with their Meal Train!
