LYONS — Pierce County High School’s cross-country teams competed here Thursday in the Three Rivers Cross-Country Classic hosted by Toombs County.
The Lady Bears placed 16th in the 18team girls’ meet while the Bears finished 18th in the 23-team boys event. Bleckley County easily swept the meet.
Nevaeh Grant paced the Lady Bears finishing 79th with a seasonbest time of 26:27.60. The winning time was 17:56.90.
Grant was followed by Ana Llamas-Diaz (91st, season-best 27:14.80), Emma Strickland (92nd, season- best 27:25.20), Mary Emma Moore (94th, season-best 27:33.30) and Addison Folette (132nd, seasonbest 32:59.80).
Chase Smith led the Bears placing 76th with a time of 19:51.80. The winning time was 16:13.30.
Smith was followed by Brandon Yepes (78th, 19:55.70), Samuel Carrillo (84th, season- best 20:05.40), Dylan Hersey (94th, season-best 20:29.40) and Micah Bryant (131st, seasonbest 21:24) for the team score. Also running were Jeb Bradley (135th, season-best 21:36) and James Alonso (136th, season-best 21:37.20).
Running in the jayvee event of 166 runners were Coleman Lee (58th, 22:54:20), Lucas Sapp (86th, seasonbest 24:06.30) and Will McIntosh (96th, season-best 24:32.20).
PCHS will compete Thursday, October 24 in Wayne County for the final regular season meet. The Class 2A sectiontional will be held Saturday, November 2.
