Patterson approves rezone for Circle K

The Circle K in Patterson will be expanding.

The Patterson City Council gave approval at their regular monthly meeting last Thursday afternoon to rezoning a tract of property from single family residential to commercial.

The 0.69 acre tract is located between the current Circle K and Dollar General on U.S. Highway 84.

A public hearing was held prior to the vote. Resident Myra Vanessa James asked questions about the development, but had no objection to the plans.

The council unanimously approved the change clearing the way for major renovations at the site.

The Pierce County Planning Commission gave its approval and recommendation for the rezoning at its September meeting. The Patterson City Council had the final say on the rezoning since the tract is currently in the city limits.

Sandra Owens of MDM Services, Inc. and Lindsay Thomas of the Pierce County Planning Department were both present to answer questions about the proposed rezoning.

MDM Services, Inc. does engineering work for Circle K stores.

Plans for the site include store renovations, the addition of fuel pumps and a canopy and a retention pond and circulation surface on the property.

There is currently a brick home on the property. The home will be demolished as part of the renovations at the site.
