Jeremiah’s Promise topic at Rotary

Vanessa Smith with Jeremiah’s Promise was the guest speaker at last week’s Blackshear Rotary Club meeting. Jeremiah’s Promise is a neurodevelopmental learning center for students with neurological and behavioral challenges. The non-profit is affiliated with Jacob’s Ladder in Atlanta whose model of care has transformed the lives of more than 4,000 individuals since its inception in 1998. The school’s approach is built on the science of neuroplasticity. “We believe every brain, and every individual, has the capacity for change and growth – regardless of age, diagnosis or level of functioning,” Smith says. Smith’s affiliation with the neurodevelopmental learning center began when her son was diagnosed with autism. The school also serves students with brain injuries, genetic syndromes, intellectual/developmental delays, learning differences and trauma-related disorders. Jeremiah’s Promise is currently located at 102 Linden Dr. in Waycross. The school is growing quickly and Smith reported they already have 20 students on a waiting list for enrollment.
