Leah Nicole Hayes McRae, 41, of Waycross, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, at her residence.

Born March 8, 1983, in Waycross, she was the daughter of Terry Michael Hayes and Patricia Anne Wood Carter. She lived all her life in Pierce and Ware Counties and was a 2001 graduate of Pierce County High School. She attended Okefenokee Technical College (now Coastal Pines Technical College) to become a CNA but was currently a homemaker.

She attended Haywood Baptist Church and will be remembered for her sense of humor and good jokes, generous heart and her green thumb.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ronnie Sharpe Hayes, Pat Cain Hayes, Dewey Wood and Maudie Lee Wood; her Nanmaw, Louise Arnold Haynes; several aunts and uncles and a special friend, Marla Davis.

Survivors include her husband, Chris McRae, Waycross; daughters, Jaina Elise Taylor and Maci-Jette Hayes, both of Waycross; mother, Patricia Wood Hayes Carter, Alma; father, Mike Hayes, Blackshear; brothers, Brandon Hayes, Thomasville and Danny Hayes, Blackshear; in-laws, Noahie and Sheryl Altman, Blackshear; sister-inlaw, Ashley Andrews Carter (husband Jake), Blackshear; several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins, friends and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 12, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.

Interment followed in the Jordan Cemetery in Ware County.

Classmates of the Pierce County High School Class of 2001 served as honorary pallbearers.
