Blackshear Elementary helps students clean up after Helene

Pierce County students returned to school on Tuesday of last week, though power was not yet on in all areas of the county. The staff of Blackshear Elementary School knew parents were concerned about their students coming to school without being able to clean up due to lack of running water, so the shower station in the nurse’s office was set up for any student in need complete with soap, shampoo, towels, toothbrush, toothpaste and other toiletries. Seen above (l-r), Principal Mandy Williams and guidance counselors Jennifer Harris and Laura Coates set up the shower essentials for distribution.
