The Lady Bears softball team recorded a pair of wins this week over visiting teams from Tattnall and Toombs.
Tuesday night (Sept. 20) brought a 9-1 victory for the Bears.
Kadence Godwin got the win in the circle, throwing six innings, giving up one hit, one base on balls (BB) and recording five strikeouts (K’s).
The offense was led by Rebecca Deloach going 3-4 with two runs batted in (RBI’s) and a homerun.
Godwin, Jenny Braddy and Olivia Bennett all had two hits to help the cause.
A 6-5 nailbiter against Toombs last Thursday (Sept. 22) kept the Lady Bears’ winning streak going.
Up 4-1 in the top of the seventh inning, Toombs made a big comeback and scored four to take the lead.
The Lady Bears came back in the bottom of the seventh and scored two, walking it off for the win.
“I am so proud of the fight they showed (against Toombs). What a game!” said Coach Tyler Rogers.
Godwin threw seven innings, eight hits, two BB’s and six K’s.
All together, the Bears were able to bang out nine hits as a team. Deloach, Kylie Allen, Braddy and Bennett all with two hits a piece.
Tomorrow (Sept. 29), The Lady Bears host Brantley county.
