Take care of each other, Pierce County.
We saw Hurricane Helene coming, but we don’t know that any of us expected it to be as bad as it has turned out to be.
After slamming into Florida as a Category 4 storm, Helene weakened to a Category 2 by the time it made it to Pierce County in the wee hours of Friday morning, Sept. 27.
It appears to be the most powerful storm to affect Pierce County in our lifetimes.
Virtually all of Pierce County endured the first few days of Helene’s aftermath without power. Cell and internet service has been spotty and unreliable as well.
Water, ice, food and shelter have become precious commodities.
It is an extremely uncomfortable and frustrating situation to live in.
But, out of the bad, we see good things happening.
We have pulled together to help one another, to care for one another and yes, to love one another.
Perhaps, those are, afterall, the most important things that we need.
Stay strong, Pierce County.
We are going to get through this.
With God’s help, we can and we will. Together.
