Pierce County earned a split of its two road games losing a non-region tilt and winning a region matchup.
The Lady Bears (10-9 overall, 4-2 Region 3) dropped their second straight game falling 9-4 Monday, September 23 at Class A DI fourth-ranked Toombs County.
PCHS bounced back Wednesday (September 25) in Cordele to complete the season series sweep of Crisp County winning 13-5. The Lady Bears posted an 8-0 victory September 10.
The Lady Bears were to travel Tuesday (October 1) to fifth-ranked region foe Cook. They were scheduled to host the Lady Hornets today (Wednesday, October 2) at 5 p.m. Class A DII ninth-ranked Metter is scheduled to come to town Thursday, October 3 for a 6 p.m. matchup. The schedule is pending due to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

LYONS — Toombs County spotted the Lady Bears a 1-0 second inning lead before scoring nine of the next 11 runs to notch the victory.
PCHS grabbed its only lead capitalizing on a Lady Bulldog miscue. Gracie Corbitt reached on a one-out error, stole second and raced home on Carley Sloan’s (1-for-3) double.
The Lady Bulldogs responded with five runs, all unearned, in the bottom half of the inning against Taylor Tomlinson (4 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 1 ER, 3 K, 3 BB, 1 WP) to open up a 5-1 lead.
Toombs County took advantage of two errors, two walks and three base hits. Six consecutive batters reached after the first out of the inning.
After the Lady Bulldogs extended the margin to 61 on a two-out, run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth, Pierce County answered with two runs in the fifth. Bella Delaney (1-for-4) lined a one-out single ahead of Olivia Bennett (1-for-2) getting hit by a pitch.
Alyssa Crump (1-for-4) followed by delivering a run-scoring single on a 10-pitch at bat. Kaylee Figeuroa’s (2-for-3) two-out, run-scoring single cut the deficit to 6-3.
Toombs County came right back chasing home three runs in the bottom of the inning against Sloan (2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) to increase its advantage to 9-3. Four consecutive batters reached after PCHS turned a double play to clear the bags.
PCHS’s final run came in the seventh with two outs. Bennett led of with a single, stole second and advanced to third on Crump’s sacrifice bunt. Bennett scored on a passed ball.

ADEL — The Lady Bears broke away from a 2-all first inning tie plating five runs in the second and using a pair of three-run rallies to beat host Crisp County.
PCHS banged out a season-high 16 hits led by Bennett’s 4-for-5 performance which included a double, triple and five runs batted in. Both Crump and Tomlinson (two doubles) collected three hits apiece and drove in two runs each.
Bennett singled with one out in the first, stole second and scored on a Tomlinson two-out double. A walk to Figueroa and an error on a ball hit by Corbitt loaded the bases. Parker Sinclair (1-for-3, two RBI) was hit by a pitch forcing home the second run for a 2-0 lead.
After the Lady Cougars scored two to tie the score in the bottom of the first against Tomlinson (7 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 4 K, 2 BB, 3 HBP, WP), PCHS responded with five runs to take the lead for good at 7-2.
The Lady Bears sent nine batters to the plate in the uprising getting four singles, a double and a walk. Bennett, Crump and Tomlinson had consecutive RBI hits upping the lead to 5-2 ahead of the second out. Corbitt and Sinclair had back-to-back run-scoring base hits to finish off the rally.
PCHS followed with a three-run third for a 10-2 advantage. An error started the inning followed by a single by Delaney and Bennett’s two-run triple. Crump stroked a run-scoring single two pitches later.
Crisp County pushed home two runs in the bottom of the third cutting the lead to 10-4.
The Lady Bears’ final three runs came in the seventh on Bennett’s two-run double and Crump’s ensuing groundout.
