Veteran Strickland passes at 68

Jeffrey Carswell “Jeff” Strickland, patriot, former American Legion Commander and Marine Corps veteran, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross. He was 68.

Strickland was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a retired First Lieutenant. He was retired from the Federal Prison System as FCI Jesup.

A native of Pierce County and a graduate of Blackshear High School, Strickland returned home after his military service.

Strickland was very patriotic and dedicated himself to a number of organizations including the Sons of the Confederacy, the Blank Check Society and the American Legion. Strickland was the commander of the local American Legion post for a few years and helped to organize events for Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

Strickland also enjoyed physical fitness, being outdoors, rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed riding his Harley with his buddies.
