Raise taxes or reduce services, that is the question

Editor, The Times:

I was edified to see the large turnout at the public information meeting. I was humbled to hear stories of our citizens trying to raise their families during these difficult financial times.

I would like to thank our County Manager Jason Rubenbauer for assuming the duties of County Clerk and IT specialist during this budget shortfall. Perhaps this is a temporary measure until our financial means improve.

The suggestion to “shop” for contractors has merit. However, to hire locally benefits our community and economy.

No one wants a tax increase, and everyone wants government services. We depend on our elected public officials to allocate our tax funds wisely. The citizen involvement is edifying, we are keeping watch.
