Volleyball team ends 5-game skid

Pierce County’s Lady Bears volleyball team ended a five-game losing streak splitting a threeteam match Thursday in Baxley.

The Lady Bears (20-8) slide of five straight losses has come against programs in the highest classification starting the previous week against Class 6As Valdosta and host Camden County. That was followed by losses to host Lowndes and Valdosta ending after a setback to Class 5A Statesboro in Baxley.

PCHS traveled Tuesday, September 17 to Lowndes High losing to the host Lady Vikings 25-18, 25-17. It was the third consecutive 2-0 setback for the Lady Bears.

Pierce County jumped to a 1-0 lead against Valdosta with the Lady Wildcats rallying for a 24-26, 25-18, 15-9 victory.

The Lady Bears dropped a 25-23, 29-27 decision Thursday, September 19 to the Lady Blue Devils at Appling County. PCHS found the winning formula against the ninthranked Lady Pirates winning 26-24, 25-13.

Pierce County’s junior varsity swept the host school 25-20, 25-7.

PCHS traveled Monday, September 23 to face Frederica Academy. The Lady Bears travel Thursday, September 26 to face Glynn Academy.

A match on St. Simons Island is scheduled for Monday, September 23 against Frederica Academy with a Thursday, September 26 date set at Class 5A Glynn Academy.

Camden County and Tattnall County visit Bearville Tuesday, October 1. The Lady Bears close out the regular season Thursday, October 3 hosting Lowndes and Glynn Academy.
