LYONS — Pierce County High School’s cross-country teams placed seventh and eighth respectively in their respective races here Thursday at the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Toombs County.
The Lady Bears (160 points) placed seventh in the eight-team girls event won by Jeff Davis (31). The Lady Yellow Jackets placed all five runners in the Top nine spots.
Jeff Davis was followed by Savannah Christian (45), Vidalia (78), Toombs County (112), Atkinson County (144), Tattnall County (157), PCHS and Telfair County (227).
The Bears (215) finished eighth in the 10-team boys’ division won by Vidalia (33). The Indians placed all five runners in the top 13 positions.
Following Vidalia were Jeff Davis (95), Toombs County (103), Savannah Christian (104), Atkinson County (107), Tattnall County (145), Dodge County (160), PCHS, New Hampstead (255) and Telfair County (279).
The Lady Bears were paced by Mary Emma Moore’s 36th-place showing in the field of 71 runners posting a time of 29:23.75. The winning time was 20:13.56.
Moore was followed by Ana Llamas-Diaz (37th, 29:29.36), Nevaeh Grant (46th, 30:39.95), Emma Strickland (47th, 30:47.32) and Emily Sierra (55th, 34:48.27).
Chase Smith topped the Bears first five finishers placing 15th in the field of 132 runners with season-best time of 19:38.62. The winning time was 17:46.39.
Following Smith for the team score were James Alonso (49th, 21:53.55), Samuel Carrillo (56th, seasonbest 22:25.77), Micah Bryant (59th, season-best 22:31.23) and Jeb Bradley (60th, 22:36.46).
Also participating were Dylan Hersey (63rd, seasonbest 22:54.61), Breck Benton (64th, 22:56), Coleman Lee (67th, season-best 23:19.24), Lucas Sapp (86th, 25:06.17), Brandon Yepes (87th, 25:13.94) and Will McIntosh (103rd, 27:00.47).
