Midway Elementary and the Chocolate Factory

Lots of students (l-r) dressed up as characters from the beloved book, including Mr. Wonka, the oompa-loompas, Veruca Salt and more. Front row: Aiden Claxton, Timothy Wright, Jamie Burney and Tucker Dykes. Middle row: Maggie O'Driscoll, Ember Hunt, Waylon Cox, Jeremiah Smiley, Waylon Spivey, Roberto Lopez-Castillo, Mila Anderson, Libby Carrin, Natalie Sanchez and Mrs. Karly Simonin. Back row: Audrey Martinez, Jordyn Godwin and Chloe Smith.

Earlier this year, all 4th grade students received a “golden ticket” to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. On September 6, all the learning activities were Wonka-themed. Students wrote about a visit to the fictional chocolate factory, then they were challenged to create an elevator to lift “everlasting gobstoppers”. Finally, the fourth graders watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and found differences between the movie and the book. It was a delicious day!
