It was another uphill climb to victory for the Lady Bears this week as the team secured a win in Appling after losses to Brantley and Toombs.
The Lady Bears lost 5-4 against Brantley Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Lauren Edgar got the start in the circle with six hits, six strikeouts (K), zero base on balls (BB) and four earned runs
Rachel Cason and Kylie Allen also had strong outings with two hits each. Natalie Sullivan, Bella Delaney and LizAnn Hughes also each turned in one hit
The team endured a 7-3 loss to Toombs Wednesday Sept. 14.
Kadence Godwin threw 2.2 innings pitched (IP), five hits, one BB and one earned run.
Lauren Edgar threw 2.1 IP, two hits, two BB’s, one K and one earned run. Taylor Tomlinson threw one inning, only giving up one hit.
Jenny Braddy came in with a two-run homer. Other standouts included Rebecca Deloach contibuting three hits and Hughes contibuting two hits to the team’s 11 hits during the game.
The Lady Bears 6-3 victory against Appling came Thursday, Sept. 15.
“I am so proud of these young ladies. After two very tough games this week, they continued to battle and got a big win tonight in Appling, “ said Coach Tyler Rogers.
“Kadence Godwin got the win in the circle, and our offense backed her up.”
Godwin threw seven innings, six hits, one BB, four K’s and two earned runs
Rogers also gave special recognition to Deloach and Allen with homers, Hughes and Olivia Bennett with three hits. Deloach had two total hits. Once again, the Lady Bears earned 11 hits as a team.
Upcoming games include a rematch at home against Toombs this Thursday, Sept. 22.
