A.J. Dixon Adam Jefferson “A. J.” Dixon, 90, of Mershon, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 3, 2024, at his daughter’s residence in St. Augustine, FL.
Born in Mershon, October 16, 1933, he lived in Pierce County all his life prior to moving to his daughter’s home in St. Augustine in 2017. He was retired from the Pierce County Board of Education where he was a school bus driver and was a life-long farmer. He was a member of the Blackshear Masonic Lodge #270 as well as the Eastern Star #548. Farm ing was his hobby, but he did enjoy taking his family to the beach when his chil dren were younger. He was a member of Bristol Baptist Church where he was a Deacon.
He was a son of the late Bernice Aldine and Lillie Woodcock Dixon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Valeria Ann Crawford Dixon; a daughter, Anna Marie Lee and his brother, Bobby Dixon.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bruce Ritch, St. Augustine; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Gail Dixon, Brunswick; a sister, Maveline Dixon, Waycross; six grandchildren, Joe (Erica) Ritch, Christina (Carter) Welch, Madison (Nate) Dryden, Chris Roberson, D. J. Lee, and James (Randi) Dixon; a step-grandchild, Kimmi (Curt) Wilder; 16 greatgrandchildren, Julian, Christian, Adrianna, William, Shelby and Sienna Ritch, Brody and Harrison Welch, Kolton, Trenton,
Makayla and Peyton
Dryden; Corbin and Camden Roberson and Bristol and Eli Dixon; five step-great-grandchil-dren,
Isaac
Irvin, Preston and Aaron Wilder and Conner and Kayla Clary; a great-greatgrandchild, Izzabella Dryden and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brett Howell and the Rev. Ben Glosson officiating.
Interment followed in the Bristol Cemetery.
Members of the Eastern Star #548 and former Pierce County Nursing Home Auxiliary volunteers to served as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Bristol Baptist Church, 3920 Bill Kimmons Road, Bristol, GA 31518.
