Cason
Kimberly Michel Cun ningham Cason, 54, of Blackshear, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 4, 2024, at her residence. Born in Waycross February 9, 1970, she lived in Ware and Pierce Counties all her life. She was a 1988 graduate of Waycross High School and worked as an engineer for CSX Transportation for several years. She was currently a homemaker. She loved going to Jekyll Island which she called her “happy place”. She never met a stranger and would talk to anyone who would stand still long enough to find out where they were vacationing from. Several of those “strangers” have become like family to her. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by a nephew, George David Cunningham III.
Survivors include her husband of 9 years, Raymon Cecil “Ray” Cason Jr., Blackshear; three stepsons, Keith (Morgan) Cason, Blackshear, Carl (Emily) Cason, Cocoa Beach, FL and Jeffrey (Teressa) Cason, Blackshear; her parents, George Sr. and Shirley Cunningham, Waycross; her brother, George David Cunningham Jr., Augusta; six grandchildren, Kiley, Alex, Sidra, Evelyn, Caleb and Emma Cason; a niece, Payton Leah Cunningham; a nephew, Joshua Lee Cunningham; special cousins, Marty (Stephanie) Cox, Blackshear; a special friend, Kay Sims, Patterson and several other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Enon Cemetery.
Nurses with Georgia Hospice Care served as honorary pallbearers.
