Leckie

Kennesaw State University

Sofia Natalia Leckie graduated in the May 7 ceremonies from Kennesaw State University in Atlanta. Leckie graduated with honors, magna cum laude, with a bachelor of business administration in marketing with a minor in advertising and digital media. She is the daughter of Lula and Robb Leckie, Dublin. Leckie’s grandparents are Robert and Lynda Riggins Leckie, former Blackshear residents and Antonio Garcia of Mexico, and the late Teresa Garcia. Sofia is currently employed in Atlanta.

Valdosta State University

Valdosta State University has announced its summer 2024 dean’s list. Pierce County students named to the list include Carlos Leggett of Patterson and Michaela Stone, Jade Devlin and Judah Hodges, all of Blackshear To qualify for dean’s list, students must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours.

Georgia Institute of Technology William Powell Brantley graduated in the May ceremonies from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. Brantley graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Engineering from H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He is the son of Chris and Lauren Leckie Brantley, Savannah. Grandparents are Robert and Lynda Riggins Leckie, formerly of Blackshear; Mary Pike Wise, Savannah and Samuel Jackson Brantley, Fayetteville. William is currently employed in Atlanta.

Coastal Pines Technical College Several Pierce County students were recognized for high academic achievement at Coastal Pines Technical College for summer semester.

Neyra Mendez Gomez and Ella Williamson were named to the president’s list and Halle Dixon was named to the dean’s list. Robert Altman, Allyson Blair, Maggie Boatright, Joseph Boyette, Lauralee Carter, Harley Cason, Austin Crawford, Ellie Grace Davis, Darcy Grigson, Breanna Luke, Nyegha Miles, Joslynn Nettles, Brandon Ratliff, Ellis Stewart, Chandler Sturdivant, Colby Sullivan, Bowen Tyre and Tanya Washington were all named to the academic achievement list.

The president’s list recognizes full-time students who earned a semester grade point average of 4.0. The dean’s list recognizes full-time students who have earned a semester GPA of 3.75 - 3.99. Students enrolled in 6-11 credit hours during the semester and achieve a 3.75 or higher-grade point average are awarded the Academic Achievement Award.
