PCMS softball scores 26 runs in blasting Waycross Middle

BEARVILLE — Pierce County Middle School used a pair of 13-run innings in beating visiting Waycross Middle School here Thursday in Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference action.

The Lady Bears sent 18 batters to the plate in the first inning with 14 reaching (five singles, six walks, two hit batters, two errors) before the third out was recorded.

Sadie Warren (3-for-3, four runs, double, RBI) collected two hits in the opening frame. London Sweet (1for-3, four runs, two RBI), Korlee Harrelson (1-for-3, RBI) and Mel Tomlinson (1-for-3, three RBI) recorded hits in the first inning.

After the Lady Bulldogs responded with five runs in the top of the second against Sweet (2 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 5 K, 3 BB) to cut the lead to 13-5, PCMS answered with a 13 runs in the bottom of the inning.

The Lady Bears had 16 of its 19 batters reach base garnering just one hit — a double by Warren. PCMS had eight batters draw a walk, two were hit and five more reached on Waycross Middle errors.

PCMS traveled Monday (September 9) to Ware County Middle School. The Lady Bears will host Appling County Middle School Thursday, September 12.
