BEARVILLE — Second-ranked Pierce County won four of five matches hosting Saturday’s Region 3-AA play day.
The six teams (PCHS, Appling County, Savannah Arts Academy, Crisp County, Tattnall County) comprising the region met September 7 in a round-robin matchup.
The Lady Bears (19-3 overall, 4-1 region) played in a three-team match Thursday at Tattnall County sweeping both the Lady Warriors and Wayne County. PCHS downed the Lady Jackets 25-16, 25-12 and followed with a 25-17, 25-11 win over the Lady Warriors.
PCHS knocked off ninth-ranked Appling County to begin Saturday’s action. PCHS rallied from a set down to beat the Lady Pirates 23-25, 25-19, 15-12.
Pierce County followed with a sweep of Cook beating the Lady Hornets 25-15, 25-11.
Savannah Arts Academy, who won all five of its matches in straight sets, handed the Lady Bears a 2515, 25-7 setback.
PCHS bounced back against Crisp County rallying for the second time from a one-set deficit. The Lady Bears won 24-26, 25-11, 15-12.
Pierce County ended the long day knocking off Tattnall County in straight sets winning 25-8, 25-7. The Lady Warriors went winless for the day.
The Lady Bears traveled Tuesday (September 10) to Kingsland to face host Camden County and Valdosta. PCHS goes Saturday, September 14 to Statesboro High to participate in a tournament. Pierce County travels Tuesday, September 17 to face host Lowndes and Valdosta.
