Margaret ‘Maggie’ Howard

Margaret “Maggie” Howard, 87, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at her residence in Blackshear.

She was born in Glendale, CA to the late Audrey Collier and Evelyn I. Mabie Collier. She retired from the Pierce County Board of Education after 31 ½ years of being an educator. She was also a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lonnie Howard and a sister, Audrey McKee.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen “Rainey” Beverly (Richard), Waycross; three sons, Wayne Howard and Christopher Howard (Gloria), all of Blackshear, and Joshua Howard (Debbie Strange), Alma; six grandchildren, Nick Beverly (Lexi Warner), Luke Beverly, Ashlyn Beverly Hawkins (David), Kristin Howard Savage (Andrew), Michelle Gaytan-Howard (Jorge Gomez), and Josh Howard (Anna Bullard); 12 great-grandchildren, Nora Nettles, Brian Hawkins, Natalie Hawkins, David Michael Hawkins, Gianna Powell, McKynnlie Savage, Madelynn Savage, Aubreigh Smart, Jorge Gomez, Penelope Gomez, Joshua Howard and Jude Howard and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, from the Music Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment followed in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross.
