Pierce County dropped two of three games including split a pair of Region 3-AA matchups with a win at home and loss on the road.
The Lady Bears (6-6, 1-1), who have lost five of their last seven, opened the week falling 6-1 in Hazelhurst to Jeff Davis. Pierce County “mercy ruled” Tattnall County 10-0 Tuesday, August 27 in five innings in the region opener. PCHS was no-hit during a perfect game in Baxley by defending Class AA state champion and current top-ranked Appling County falling 13-0 in four innings.
Pierce County will play in Douglas against Coffee Thursday, September 5. PCHS is hosting Miller County (11 a.m.) and defending Class A DII state champion Lanier County (3 p.m.) Saturday, September 7.
Region foe Crisp County visits Tuesday, September 10. The Lady Bears travel Thursday, September 12 to currently third-ranked Cook.

HAZELHURST — Homestanding Jeff Davis followed a Lady Bears’ run in the fifth breaking a scoreless tie with five runs in the bottom of the inning in getting the win.
PCHS, after stranding three runners over the first four innings, finally broke the ice in the top of the fifth. Carley Sloan (1-for-2), led off the inning with a first-pitch double. Courtesy runner Evan Horne was sacrificed to third by Zoe O’Berry ahead of scoring on a single by Malee Childers (1-for-2) for a 1-0 lead.
Jeff Davis responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning for a 5-1 lead. The Lady Yellow Jackets plated an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with a two-out, run-scoring double.

BEARVILLE — Taylor Tomlinson allowed one hit over five innings pitching Pierce County past the Lady Warriors.
Tomlinson (5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 K, 3 BB) was backed by the four-RBI performance of Alyssa Crump, who went 2-for-3 with a double.
The Lady Bears gave Tomlinson all the support she would need with a three-run first inning. PCHS added two runs in the second for a 5-0 lead. Childers (1-for-3) led off with an infield hit, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a single by Bella Delaney. Lanie Mai ripped an 0-2 pitch for a run-scoring triple for the final run.
The Lady Bears doubled their lead with a five-run third inning. PCHS loaded the bases with one out with walks to Parker Sinclair and Delaney along with error on a ball hit by O’Berry.
Mai’s ensuing grounder was booted allowing the first run to score. Crump’s bases clearing double was followed by a double by Corbitt to highlight the inning.

BAXLEY — The top-ranked Lady Pirates did all of their damage in the first two innings in turning back PCHS.
Appling County struck for five runs in the first inning and put the game out of reach with an eightrun second. The Lady Pirates collected 10 hits.
Presley Harrison, a University of Georgia commit, retired all 12 batters she faced with eight coming via strikeout.
The Lady Pirates got a one-out, two-run double and a three-run homer in the first against Tomlinson (1.1 IP, 9 H, 10 R, 10 ER, 0 K, 1 BB).
Eight consecutive batters reached in the second after the leadoff batter was retired. Appling County recorded six singles, drew three walks and was the beneficiary of an error during the uprising.
