Pierce County Middle School posted a pair of 10-run “mercy rule” wins in Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference action.
The Lady Bears claimed their first conference win Monday, August 19 in Folkston against Bethune winning 14-4 in a “mercy rule” five-inning contest. They followed with an 11-1 victory Thursday, August 22 over visiting Brantley County Middle School in another five-inning “mercy rule” game.
PCMS traveled Monday (August 19) to Ludowici to face Long County Middle School. The Lady Bears host Wayne County Thursday, August 29 at 4 p.m., in the only action this week.
Pierce Middle will host Waycross Middle at 4 p.m., Thursday, September 5 in the only game next week.

FOLKSTON — PCMS put together two five-run innings and a pair of two-run innings in beating the Lady Braves.
The Lady Bears managed just five hits and drew four walks. They took advantage of 13 errors by Bethune with 10 of the 14 runs unearned. Pierce Middle also stole 10 bases.
PCMS scored five runs in the first inning on one hit with two walks. The Lady Braves committed two errors allowing four runs to cross the plate.
Pierce Middle extended a 5-1 lead to 71 in the second scoring twice on errors. The Lady Bears plated five runs in the third inning on one hit to open up a 12-1 lead with the help of three miscues.
After the Lady Braves scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to keep the game alive, PCMS plated two runs in the fifth for a 14-3 lead. A wild pitch and a throwing error scored the runs.
London Sweet (1-for-3, two steals), Cadence Coldren (1-for-4, stolen base), Sophia White (1-for-4, stolen base), Kabela Reddick (1-for-3, two steals) and Kinsey Reddick (1-for-3) recorded hits.
Sadie Warren had a team-high three stolen bases. Caitlyn Hinnant had one theft.
White worked four innings allowing two hits, fanning seven, walking four and hitting a batter. She was charged with three unearned runs.
Warren twirled one inning allowing an unearned run. She struck out one, walked three and uncorked two wild pitches.

BEARVILLE — A two-run first inning proved to be enough for the Lady Bears in beating visiting Brantley Middle.
PCMS used the two-hit pitching of White (5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 K, 3 BB) to get the victory.
Pierce Middle followed the two-run first with four runs in the third and five in the third.
A run-scoring triple by Coldren (2-for-3) and a sacrifice fly by Miranda Howard (1-for-2) gave the Lady Bears a 2-0 lead.
PCMS sent nine batters to the plate in the third inning in scoring four times after two outs for a 6-0 advantage. White (1-for-2) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded forcing home the first run.
Sadie Warren (1-for-1) raced home on a passed ball for the second run. Haily Morgan’s bases loaded walk to batters later forced home a third run. White scored the final run on a passed ball.
After the Lady Herons scored their run in the top of the fourth to get to within 61, Pierce Middle pushed home five runs in the bottom of the frame to open up an 11-1 lead.
The Lady Bears loaded the bases with their first three batters getting a hit by pitch and consecutive singles. Coldren followed with a two-run double. Howard’s ensuing single upped the lead to 91. A passed ball and a sacrifice fly by Howard finished off the scoring.
