Bears beat Metter 30-7, to host Liberty County Friday

The Pierce County Bears football team defeated Metter 30-7 September 2 on the road in Metter. The Bears are ranked second in the Georgia High School Daily AA poll and will host Liberty County in the home opener this Friday, September 9 in Bearville. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online at GoFan.co. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the NFHS Network and on WWUF 97.7 FM radio station.

Friday’s match-up will be the seventh meeting with the last meeting being won by the Bears 42-7 November 8, 2019. Liberty County is currently 2-0 this season after defeating Southeast Bulloch 33-29 August 18 and winning over Bradwell Institute 32-12 August 26.

Scoring Recap

The Bears were the first to score on an eight-yard touchdown run by DJ Bell. Jonah Allen added the extra point to make the score in the first quarter 7-0.

Bell added a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Following the extra point by Allen the score was 14-0.

Metter was able to score to open the third quarter on a 15-yard run making the score, with the extra point, 14-7.

The Bears answered with a 64-yard run by Jaquez White. Allen converted the extra point to make the score 21-7.

Jimarion Guyton of the Bears was the next to score on a two-yard run in the fourth quarter. Allen added the extra point to make the score 28-7.

The final score came as the Metter punter fell on the ball in the end zone to give the Bears a safety and making the final score 30-7.
