Pierce County Middle School played five times over a threeday period logging a 2-2-1 record.
The Lady Bears battled Coffee Middle to a five-inning, 5-all standoff Wednesday, August 14 in Douglas. They followed with a 13-4 win in three innings a day later at home against Bacon County Middle School.
PCMS played three games Saturday, August 17 with Ware County Middle School serving as host. The Lady Bears beat Bacon Middle 21-1 in three innings, fell 14-0 to Appling County Middle School in five innings, and dropped a 13-5 decision to Ware Middle in the finale.
PCMS’s “B” squad also played Saturday at the Ware Middle tournament. The Lady Bears beat Waycross Middle 18-4, lost 14-1 to Brantley County Middle, beat the Lady Bulldogs 21-3 in the second meeting and fell 4-0 to Appling Middle. No other information was made available.
Pierce Middle traveled Monday, August 19 to Folkston to face Bethune Middle. The Lady Bears will host Brantley County Middle School Thursday, April 22 at 4 p.m.

DOUGLAS — Pierce Middle scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning forging a tie against the Lady Trojans.
Cadence Coldren’s (2-for-3, two triples, four RBIs) two-out, run-scoring triple gave PCMS a 1-0 lead. Coffee responded with a run in the bottom of the third and put together a four-run fourth for a 5-1 lead against Sophia White (4 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 5 K, 2 BB, 2 WP).
Pierce Middle sent eight batters to the plate in the fifth with four crossing the plate. Coldren’s one-out, bases clearing triple pulled the Lady Bears to within 5-4. Miranda Howard’s ensuing double tied the game.
Sadie Warren retired three of the four batters she faced during a scoreless, hitless bottom of the fifth.
London Sweet, Caitlyn Hinnant and Warren added a hit apiece.

BEARVILLE — The Lady Bears broke open a one-run lead with a nine-run second inning in beating visiting Bacon Middle.
Kabela Reddick (3-for-3, RBI) led the Lady Bears with Coldren (2-for-3, three ribbies) also recording a multi-hit game. Sweet, Warren, Howard and White each added a hit.
White tossed three innings of two-hit ball. She was charged with two earned runs. White fanned three, walked four and uncorked three wild pitches.

WAYCROSS — PCMS exploded for 11 runs in its first trip to the plate and followed with three runs in the second and seven in the third inning in beating the Lady Red Raiders.
Sweet (3-for-3, two doubles, RBI), Coldren (3-for-3, four RBIs) and White (3-for-4) paced the early morning 14-hit attack. Kinsey Reddick (2-for-3) and Warren (2-for-3, double, two RBI) joined the multi-hit parade. Haley Morgan (1-for-2) added a base hit.
Sweet allowed one hit over three innings with the run unearned. She fanned three and walked one.

WAYCROSS — The Lady Rams scored at least two runs in each of its five trips to the plate to knock off PCMS.
Appling Middle plated two runs in the first, four in the second inning, three in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth frame.
White had the lone hit for the Lady Bears.
White and Warren surrendered 12 hits and just five earned runs (seven errors). The struck out two and walked four.

WAYCROSS — Ware Middle chased home 10 runs in the top of the fourth inning to break away from a 3-2 lead to beat the Lady Bears.
Warren collected half of Pierce Middle’s six hits going 3for-3 and driving home two runs. Coldren, Reddick and Hinnant each lined a hit.
White and Sweet toed the rubber for the Lady Bears allowing seven hits. Seven of the 13 runs were earned.
