The Pierce County Bears cruised to a 48-13 win over the Charlton County Indians Friday night, Sept. 16 in Folkston. With the win, the Bears improve to 4-0 and will host Brantley County this Friday, September 23 for Homecoming. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m. The homecoming queen will be crowned at half-time.
The match-up with Brantley will be the 40th regular season meeting between the two programs dating back to October 30, 1981 which was a 23-0 win for the Bears. The Bears hold a 26-13 advantage in the series and have won the last 11 meetings, winning by an average score of 45-13.
Brantley County is currently 3-1 this season after defeating Atkinson County 34-6 August 19, winning over Groves 42-8 August 26, defeating Beach 17-6 September 2, and losing to Johnson (Savannah) 21-19 September 9.
Scoring Recap
Charlton County was the first to score on an 18-yard run. The extra point attempt was no good making the score 6-0 in favor of the home team with 3:53 remaining in the first quarter.
The Bears answered with a 54-yard run by DJ Bell. Jonah Allen converted the extra point attempt to make the score 7-6 with 1:34 remaining in the first quarter.
JaQuez White scored next for the Bears on a 19-yard run. The extra point was blocked making the score 13-6 at the 11:15 mark in the second quarter.
Bell connected with White on a 43-yard pass for the next score. Allen added the extra point to make the score 20-6 with 1:25 left in the second quarter.
White added a 26-yard run for the next Bear score. Allen converted the extra point to make the score 27-6 at the 11:44 mark in the third quarter.
Bell was the next Bear to score on a six-yard run. Following the extra point by Allen, the score was 34-6 with 7:03 left in the third quarter.
Jimarion Guyton added a three-yard run for the Bears. Allen converted the kick to make the score 41-6 at the 2:19 mark in the third quarter.
Charlton County scored on a 59-yard run to make the score, following the extra point, 41-13 with 6:58 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Bears had the final score on a 92-yard run by White. Allen made the extra point to make the final score 48-13.
