Althea Ceal Moon Ruark, 92, formerly of Fort Pierce, FL and Hixson, TN, passed into Glory Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Baptist Village Retirement Center after a long and difficult illness.
She was born October 30, 1929 in Jacksonville, FL, to Robert Ceals Moon and Althea Bluebell (Ponce) Jaudon.
Althea, affectionately known as Rose, loved the Lord Jesus and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed salt-water fishing, dogs, crocheting, watching old movies, Civil War history and feeding wild birds. She was a vivacious, kind-hearted loving wife, mother, grandmother, in-law, aunt, sister and friend.
“She greeted what was a hard, difficult life with a smile and a joke. Even to the last she was chipper and up-beat. Our Mom and Aunt Honey will be greatly missed,” said her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Robert John Hudson and Robert Lloyd Ruark and a sister, Mary Nell Kirkland.
Those left to mourn her loss are sons, Steven R. (Pamela D.) Hudson, Patterson and Gary R. (Irene) Hudson, Tallahassee, FL; daughter, Cynthia G. (Donald M.) Yates, Port Charlotte, FL; former daughter-in-law, Cindi Hudson; two granddaughters, Deborah R. (John) Rogers and Amberlee Yates; one grandson, Robert L. yates; and one great-grandchild, Sean M. Rogers; one special niece, Rose Marie (Ron) Murphy; nephew, John (Janet) Woods and many other loving family and friends.
“A very special thank you to all the staff and medical team at Baptist Village, especially Nurse Station 3, for their superb loving care, kindness, and concern. God bless you all,” said the family.
A private burial took place Monday morning, Sept. 19, at the Mill Creek Cemetery in Patterson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, from the St. Johns Community Church with the Rev. Robert Jernigan officiating.
