Robert ‘Butch’ Lewis Clem

CLAYTON, Ga. — Robert “Butch” Lewis Clem, age 69, of Clayton, Ga. passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023.

He was born in Waycross, Georgia the son of the late Florence Jacobs Clem and the late Hiawatha Robert Clem.

Butch was a native of Hoboken, and made Clayton, Georgia his home for the last 18 years with his loving wife Gladys Owens Clem. Butch attended the Church of The Mountains.

He enjoyed reading, music, dancing, westerns, playing pool and playing cards. He loved his dog Blackie. He and Gladys enjoyed spending time at the Rabun County Senior Center.

Butch had spent the last several months at Mountain View Health and Rehab. The family wanted to thank the staff of Mountain View as well as the staff of Pruitt Hospice for the love and care given to Butch.

In addition to his parents, Butch also was preceded in death by a brother, David Earl Clem and a sister, Wanda Clem Chaney.

Butch is survived by his loving wife; two sons, Scott Chamblee (Kathy) of Clayton, Ga., Gary Chamblee (Lanette) of Long Creek, S.C.; one brother, Jimmy Clem of Hoboken; one sister, Tina Clem Walker of Hoboken; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; as well as a number nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at 6:30 p.m., Thursday February, 9 at Phillipian Church, 234 Kelly Street, Hoboken.
