The Pierce County Bears volleyball team held off the host Windsor Forest Knights by a score of 3-2 in a September 13 league contest.
The match was a three out of five barn burner. Set scores were 25-17, 11-25, 24-26, 25-22 and 15-12.
“After struggling in the middle two sets, the Bears regained their composure and started passing the ball better setting up their offense,” said Coach Robbie Spires.
“The Bears also took control of the serve game keeping the Knights off-balance with deep, well-placed serves.”
In a non-league battle Sept. 15, the host Wayne County Yellow Jackets volleyball team scored a 2-0 (17-25, 19-25) triumph over the Bears.
The Bears struggled with both serve accuracy and passing accuracy in the rematch.
The Bears lost (25-4, 25-5) to the number one ranked Savannah Arts Tuesday, Sept.20.
However, a 2-1 match win (25-21, 17-25, 17-15) against the Tattnall County Warriors came the same day.
Two more victories followed Thursday, September 22 against Tattnall (25-13, 25-18) and Bryan county.
Next up, the Bears travel for a pair of matches against Tattnall and Vidalia.
