WAYCROSS — Mrs. Anne Walker Townsend, 85, died Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Gwinnett County, Ga., she married Eugene Walker of Patterson in 1957. They lived in Waycross until 1973, when they relocated to Columbus, Ga.. They were in a mobile lubrication service and self-service car wash business for a number of years.
Anne remarried in 1996 to Jay W. Townsend of Atlanta, and after his death returned to Columbus for a few years, before moving back to Waycross in 2005. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, James H. Davis; her mother, Nettie Wofford Davis; her husband, Eugene Walker; her husband, Jay W. Townsend; and two sisters, Dorothy Davis Hammett and Mary Faye Mosely.
Survivors include her son, Steve Walker of Mobile, Alabama; two daughters, Lisa Walker Harley of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Deana Walker Hiott of Waycross; six grandchildren, Steven Walker, Brian Walker, Matthew Harley, Elizabeth Harley Allen, Anna Hiott, Johnathan Hiott; seven great grandchildren; special niece and nephew, John Mosely, Jr., and Susan Gilbert; her special grand pup Mickey; and numerous other relatives.
A graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023 in New Home Cemetery in Offerman.
