Fred Alfred Worley

WAYCROSS — Mr. Fred Alfred Worley, 76, died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health after a brief illness.

He was born August 29, 1946 in Chamblee, Ga., to the late Crawford M. Worley and Louise Brown Worley.  He attended schools in the Atlanta area before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. During his highly decorated military service of four years, Worley received the Recon Special Forces medal, Recon J&K Expert medal, Silver Eagle and Weapons medal and Platoon Leader medal.  

After returning from his military service, he was employed by the Atlanta Fire Department, ITT Financial Services, and Orkin Pest Control Service.  Fred retired from Diversity Food as a Food Sanitation Specialist after 25 years of service.  

He was a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church and Waycross Masonic Lodge No. 305 F&AM. Fred was a 3rd degree mason and a Past Worshipful Master.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Worley Long (late husband James).

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Maxine Brown Worley of Waycross; two children, Kelly Worley Giddens (Roger) of St. Augustine, Fla., and Tony Worley (Diana) of Waycross; grandchildren, Devon King (Matt), Garrison Giddens, Grace Giddens, Tanner Briggs (Myles) and Samantha Worley; brother, James E. Worley (late Myrtice); sister, Edna Worley Goldsborough (Roger); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Saturday  afternoon, May 27, 2023, at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.  

Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Masonic Children’s Home of Georgia, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, Ga., 31211.
