WAYCROSS — Mrs. Bonnie Strickland Chancey, 79, of Waycross, died Tuesday morning, May 16, 2023 at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness.
Mrs. Chancey was born in Waycross to the late Charlie Strickland and Maybel Beverly Strickland.
Mrs. Chancey was a member of Hosanna Church which she founded with her husband, the Rev. Chester Chancey.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Chancey loved when her family would gather, and she was able to cook for them and spend time together. Mrs. Chancey loved her church and her church family.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Chancey was preceded in death by her siblings, Lavone Strickland York, Laverne Strickland, Ray Beverly and Wayne Strickland.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Chester Chancey of Waycross; two sons, Chuck Chancey and his wife Amy of Waycross, and Timmy Chancey of Columbus, Miss.; one daughter, Kim McCorvey and her husband Kori of Waycross; six grandchildren, Erica Elkin and her husband Mitch, Ches Chancey, Dylan Chancey, Brandon Chancey, Collins McCorvey and Courson McCorvey; five siblings, Linda Strickland, Charles Strickland, Dewayne Strickland and his wife Linda, Lautrell Clements and her husband Richard, and Glenda Williams and her husband Tom; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held Friday, May 19 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
