FORT VALLEY, Ga. —Lavon Dixon Thomas, 91, died Monday morning, May 15, 2023, at Church Home LifeSpring Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Fort Valley Ga., following an extended illness.
She was a native of Brantley County and a long-time resident of Hoboken. She was the wife of the late Victor Ray Thomas, and daughter of the late Curtis Carswell Dixon and Mary Elizabeth Hagin Dixon. She also was preceded in death by a sister Nona D. Thrift.
A faithful member of Hoboken Baptist Church, she and her late husband were active in many areas of the church and community outreach and missions.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila T. Gibbs, (husband the Rev. Michael) of Cordele, Ga.; a son, Vic Thomas (wife Paula) of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren Hannah G. Stallings (husband Ross) of Atlanta, Daniel Gibbs (wife Kassidy) of Warner Robins, and Kiley T. Lewis (husband Dakota) of Tallahassee; a great granddaughter Tory Stallings, and another granddaughter’s birth expected on August; two sisters, Naomi D. Bowen of Waycross, and Loretta D. Bowen of Jesup; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, at Hoboken Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends starting at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
