BLACKSHEAR — Mrs. Betty Jean Morgan Stewart, age 89, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday evening, May 10, 2023 at Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.
Born April 8, 1934, in Nahunta, Mrs. Stewart was a daughter of the late C.E. and Candice Harris Morgan. She grew up in Brantley County and moved to Waycross for several years before moving to Pierce County in 1978.
Mrs. Stewart was a longtime homemaker and was a longtime volunteer with the Pierce County Nursing Home Auxiliary as one of the Pink Ladies.
She was a longtime member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and attended the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. “Bill” Stewart, Sr.; a son, W.A. “Buddy” Stewart, Jr.; her stepmother who raised her, Inez Morgan; sister, Clarice Bell; and five brothers, Rudolph Morgan, Brooker Morgan, Fenton Morgan, Edgar Morgan and Royce Morgan.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky Pardon of Blackshear; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ted (Charlotte) Stewart and Jeffrey (Nickie) Stewart, all of Blackshear; a daughter-in-law, Lorri Stewart-Meyer of Blackshear; three grandchildren, Tommy Pardon of Nahunta, Rebecca Stewart Brown (husband B.J.) of Blackshear, and Matthew Stewart of Waycross; two great grandchildren, Jackson Brown and Marleigh Kate Brown; two brothers, Glenn Morgan (wife Betty) of Hawthorne, Fla., and Regan Morgan (wife Marilynn) of Hoboken; a sister-in-law, Elender Morgan of Nahunta; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Alyce Roberson of Blackshear; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place today (Saturday, May 13) at noon in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Enon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning one hour prior to the service.
