WARESBORO — Mrs. Erma Renee (Gibson) Wilson, 77, died Saturday morning, May 20, 2023, at her residence in Waresboro.
She was born March 15, 1946 in Waycross to the late Marvin Bernice Gibson and Rebecca “Fannie” Avant Gibson.
Mrs. Wilson graduated from Waycross High School in 1964. She was a member of Crawford Street Baptist Church where she married John Harley Wilson III July 16, 1965. Mrs. Wilson faithfully loved her husband for more than 58 years, 12 of which were as an Air Force wife. She was also a mother, grandmother, and faithful friend who loved them all deeply.
Mrs. Wilson began employment at King Edward Cigar Factory, and worked in the food service industry most of her adult life at Burger Chef, Jerry J’s and Hog ‘n’ Bones as a manager. She would retire after 37 years of service. She loved to sew, crochet, trying new recipes, and telling anyone who would listen about her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her grandson, Micah Christian Wilson; and sister, Ada Diane (Gibson) Gore.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John Harley Wilson III of Waresboro; two sons, Keith Wilson (Dell) of Waycross and Phillip Wilson (Michele) of Niles, Mich.; five grandchildren, Hannah Faith Wilson, Caleb Joshua Wilson, Daniel Joseph Wilson, Rebekah Abigail Wilson and Lydia Helene Wilson; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held Thursday, May 25 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
