Arlene Mashburn Lairsey

BRUNSWICK — Mrs. Arlene Mashburn Lairsey, 85, died Friday night, April 21, 2023, at GraceMore Nursing and Rehab in Brunswick. Mrs. Lairsey was born August 17, 1937 in Waycross to the late Henry David Mashburn and Minnie Lou Hursey Mashburn Taylor. She worked many jobs during her life, but the one she enjoyed most was serving her Lord and Savior through her church, Crossview Church of God of Prophecy, and the Dorcus Club. Mrs. Lairsey was formerly employed by a book factory and Maxwell House in Jacksonville, Fla., retired from J.C. Penney, and as a Ware County Schools bus monitor. She also was a well-known cakemaker who specialized in making wedding cakes. Mrs. Lairsey was a loving and devoted mother who enjoyed sewing for her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lairsey also was preceded in death by her husband, William Herbert Lairsey, Sr.; her daughter, Beth Chapman; sister, Louise Willard; and brother, Bud Mashburn. Survivors include her children, William H. “Woody” Lairsey, Jr. (Rhonda Rae), Donna Underwood (Clyde), Rhonda Murray (Rick) and Wanda Daniel (Gregg); grandchildren, Trey Lairsey, Brandy Lairsey, Brittany Adams, Brandon Lairsey, Brooke Lane, Bert Chapman, Amy McLain, Aleah Underwood, Ashley Underwood, Chelsea Underwood, Joe Murray, Zach Murray, Kaydee Gay and Stewart Daniel; 14 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Monday, April 24 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
