WAYCROSS — Mrs. Jean Eleanor Crews, 88, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross after an extended illness. Ms. Crews was born May 15, 1934 in Waycross to the late Walter Fullard and Nora Bell Strickland Fullard. She attended Wacona High School. Ms. Crews enjoyed working on the family farm and cooking meals for the tobacco workers. She retired from King Edward Cigar Factory after 30 years of service. Following retirement, and at the age of 65, Ms. Crews graduated and received her CNA license. She worked as a private sitter and for Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta. Ms. Crews was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Ms. Crews was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeffery Wainright. Survivors include her children, Darlene Wainright, Debbie Jean Jones, Vickie Stalvey (late husband Tommy), David Crews (wife Cheryl) and Paul Crews, all of Hoboken; grandchildren, Ashley Jones, Matt Jones (Sarah), Jamie Tucker (Hank), Colby Strickland (Kristen), Jennifer Crews, Branden Crews, Dylan Crews and Brent Crews; great grandchildren, Alexis Wainright, Paige Wainright, Lauren Jones, Ashlyn Evans (Jared), Kali Jones, Elisa Jones, Lily Kate Jones, Luke Jones, Aydan Tucker, Kinley Tucker, Greyson Strickland, Cooper Strickland and Paisley Jane Crews; great-great grandchildren, Jackson Bowen and Ellie Jones; half-brother, Charles Fullard; half-sister, Janice Fullard; cousin, Billy Fullard; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral service was held Saturday, April 22 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Hoboken. Burial followed in High Bluff Cemetery.
