Ruby Thrift Ricketson BLACKSHEAR — Ruby Thrift Ricketson, 78, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday, March 19 at Hospice Satilla in Waycross following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Ricketson was born in Homerville to the late Janard Thrift and Delia Mae O’Neil Thrift. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear. In addition to parents, Mrs. Ricketson was preceded in death by her husband, L.O. “Bud” Ricketson; two sisters, Lottie Berry and Mary Hendrix; and brother, Buck Thrift. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Brandy Ricketson, and daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Shawn Smith; five grandchildren, Tatum Ricketson, Sam Ricketson, Layne Ricketson, Reid Smith and Reegan Smith; three sisters, Bobbie Bennett, Sylvia Grey and Ann York; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 22) at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Memorialization will be by cremation.
