JACKSONVILLE — Mr. Horace Perry Thompson, 87, died Wednesday night, March 8, 2023, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Riverside Center for Caring.
Thompson was born October 22, 1935 in Atkinson County to the late Harvey P. Thompson and Ellen Jane Johnston Thompson. He graduated from Atkinson County High School. Thompson had resided most of his life in Millwood.
He retired from Hannah Builders as building superintendent. Thompson also enjoyed his days farming his own land.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Leila Carol Allen Thompson; brother, Mark Thompson; and sisters, Beth Higgs and Lois Ricketson.
Survivors include his children, Jane Logue (Cliff) of Waycross, Perry Thompson (Tina), Ray Thompson (Beth), Penny Deems (Ricky) all of Millwood, and Kelly Thompson (Devon) of Athens, Ga.; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; one sister, Alice Hardee (Roy Lee) of Millwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial followed in Millwood Baptist Church Cemetery.
