BLACKSHEAR — Cynthia M. Hendrix, 63, of Blackshear, passed away early Friday morning, March 24, 2023 at her residence after a short illness. 

Mrs. Hendrix always had a strong love and dedication for her children and grandchildren. 

Alongside her tremendous love and devotion to her family, she had a dedication and passion for her work. For 20 years, she worked for the Jones Company in the marketing department. She often spoke of many memories of friends during her time there. From there, she worked as an office manager for many years, alongside her father who owned and operated C&F Locomotive Services. She stood by his side from the beginning, and committed herself to the family business. 

Mrs. Pierce was known for her faith and love for the Lord, deep kindness and genuine care for those around her, a friend or a stranger. She had a smile that would instantly brighten the room. Many who were able to witness the love and generosity would agree that Mrs. Pierce displayed to those around her, she had a heart of gold. She had a love for the mountains, the beach, cooking, baking, traveling, movies and gardening. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. Hendrix and Ollie Faye Hendrix, and a sister, Kathryn Ann Hendrix. 

Mrs. Hendrix is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Wingo and her husband, Frank, of Tampa, Fla., and Angela Field and her husband, Jimmy, of St. Marys, Ga.; and a son, Jacob Gibbs, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Blackshear; 14 grandchildren, Jacob Pittman, Marley Gibbs, Ryan Pittman, Holly Gibbs, Eli Pittman, Malik Gibbs, Mabrey Wingo, Matthew Wingo, Carter Wingo, Caylee Wingo, Ellie Wingo, Elena Wingo, Erica Field and Ian Field; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. 

A funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 29, at Williams Chapel Baptist Church. 

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
