WAYCROSS — Mr. Paul Henry Brophy, 56, died Tuesday morning, March 7, 2023 at his residence in Waycross after an extended illness.
Brophy was born May 30, 1966 in Jackson, Mich., to the late Jerry Leith Brophy and Tina Ann Moore Brophy. He grew up in Florida, but lived most of his life in Waycross.
Brophy received a Forestry Certificate from OTC. He was formerly employed by Michael’s Deli as a manager.
Brophy was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Brophy worked for the Waycross Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police for 32 years, and he always enjoyed helping with their Christmas event, “Shop with a Cop.”
In addition to his parents, Brophy also was preceded in death by three grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Sherry Brady Bryson Brophy of Waycross; four sons, Jonathan Aaron Brophy of Waycross, Ryan Anthony Brophy of Florida, Shawn Paul Brophy of Waycross, and Craig Bryson Brophy (Shannon) of Waycross; six grandchildren, Chase Brophy, Samuel Brophy, Adora Brophy, Craig Bryson Brophy, Jr., Eli Brophy and Kaiden Brophy; three siblings, Patrick Brophy (Melissa) of Virginia, Robert Brophy (Cindy) of Florida, and Natalie Jones of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, March 11) at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery in Appling County.
