Virginia Sports Taylor

NAHUNTA — Mrs. Virginia Sports Taylor, 104, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta following a short illness.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Odum to the late Marcus Lafayette Sports and Estella Ogden Sports. She was a homemaker but later in life was employed with Memorial Hospital as an LPN.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of Hebardville Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading her bible, adult coloring books, word search puzzles, and bingo but most of all spending time with her family and traveling.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was also preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Burch, Ernestine Davis, JoAnn Mobley and Imogene Hodges; and three brothers, Harry Sports, J.E. Sports and Robert Sports.

She is survived by her daughter, Harriett Dukes of Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta; two grandsons, Jim Dukes of Gillette, Wyoming and Jayson Dukes of Manhattan, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Greenlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to Set Free South Georgia, 74 Satilla Pines Rd., Nahunta, GA 31553.

Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
