WAYCROSS — Sigridur V. “Sigga” Clark, 73, of Waycross died Thursday afternoon, August 10, 2023, at her residence after a brief illness.
Mrs. Clark was born in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland, to the late Pall Gudmondson and Jóna Alda Illugadóttir and made Waycross her home since 1989. She was an exceptional homemaker who loved people and worked at Walmart and Dollar General from time to time.
Mrs. Clark was a talented woman who enjoyed sewing, crafting, woodworking, gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Dean Clark; a daughter, Gweny Clark; and two siblings, Paula Gunnlaugsdottir and Hrobjartur Gunnlaugsson.
Mrs. Clark is survived by two children, Victoria James (husband Nathan) of Waycross, and Paul Clark of Jacksonville, Fla.; two step children, Leah Clark of Tampa, Fla., and Richard Clark of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Noah James (wife Kori), Meghan James, Delaney James, Jesse James, Liam Clark, Raymond Clark, Jenna Clark, Levi Clark, Matthew Knapp (wife Lauren), Mary Katherine Cepeda (husband Efrain); four great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Porey Gunnlaugsdottir, Rannveig Gunnlaugsdottir; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today (Wednesday, August 16) in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
