WAYCROSS — Ellis Martin Mixon, 80, of Waycross died Thursday evening, August 3, 2023, at Baptist Village Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Mixon was born in Waycross to the late Martin Lewis Mixon and Betty Robinson Mixon and made Waycross his home all his life. He was a very skilled heavy equipment operator. Mixon enjoyed word puzzles and in his younger days he loved to hunt.
In addition to his parents, Mixon was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Louise Trowell Mixon; six siblings, Doris Houser, Laura Courson, Mildred Dewberry, Eldon Lewis Mixon, Sr., Perry Alan Mixon and John Robert “Bobby” Mixon
Mixon is survived by his wife, Ellen Joan Drew Mixon of Waycross; an adopted son, Michael Baker of Waycross; a special niece, Rose Marie Byrd of Waycross; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held Monday morning, August 7, in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial followed in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Manor.
