Linda Jean Dean

WAYCROSS — Linda Jean Dean, age 76, of Waycross,  passed away Friday, July 28, 2023.

She was born on November 27, 1946, in Waycross to the late Dan and Ciller Davis.

Mrs. Dean was a strong-willed and determined woman who dedicated her life to taking care of others. She was a loving mother and grandmother to all, always ready to lend a helping hand. Linda’s door was always open to anyone in need, and her kind and caring nature touched the lives of many.

In her career, Mrs. Dean worked at the King Edward Cigar Factory before retiring. She took great pride in her work and made many lasting friendships throughout the years.

Outside of work, she had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She loved thrifting, cooking, gardening, and eating out. She found solace in spending time at home, and had a talent for baking cakes that delighted her family and friends.

Mrs. Dean is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Cecil Dean. She will be deeply missed by her children: Stephen Rowell and daughter-in-law Deborah Rowell, Maggie Milton and son-in-law Ray Milton, Brian Dean, Chuck Dean and daughter-in-law Jennifer Dean.

She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Ashley Spurlock, Sarah Dickerson, Caitlyn Dickerson, Matthew Dickerson, Logan Rowell, Tyler Bowen, Candice Ammons, Hunter Dean, and Neely Dean. She also is missed dearly by her great grandchildren: James King, Ashton Hendrix, Carli Ammons, Bentley Ammons, Jacob Waters, Aden Ammons, Kash Bowen, Donovan Spurlock, Karleigh Spurlock, and Krysten Spurlock. She also is survived by her sisters Melba Everly and Bonnie Touchton, as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by her father and mother, Dan and Ciller Davis, and her son Charles Rowell Jr (Buddy). She was also preceded in death by her brothers Dan Davis Jr, Carl Davis, James Davis, Harvey Davis, Clarence Davis, Johnny Davis, and her sisters Dorothy Hawkins, Nola Tanner, and Connie Morris.

Mrs. Dean will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her caring nature, and her dedication to her loved ones. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.  

Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.  

The pallbearers were Christopher Leggett, Bobo Davis, Joe Russell, Bobby Taylor, Wendell Taylor, Joey Crews, Jamie Spurlock and Brian Bivins.

Honorary pallbearers were Charles and Patsy Rowell, Jerry Rowell, Lynne Jacobs, and Linda Burnett.
