WAYCROSS — Mr. Dewey Preston Griffin, 73, died Wednesday afternoon, May 31, 2023 at Hospice House Satilla after an extended illness.
Griffin was born April 17, 1950 in Hoboken to the late Burie M. Griffin and Mildred Leona Carter Griffin. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
Griffin was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He retired from Ware County Public Works which worked in conjunction with the Sheriff's Department.
In addition to his parents, Griffin was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Tatum, Randy Tatum, Marie Edwards, Mary Tatum and Virginia Carter Thomas.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Karen E. Cole Griffin of Blackshear; no children; siblings, Hazel Tatum Wade, and Michael and Judy Griffin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Friday, June 2, 2023 at Waters Cemetery.
