WAYCROSS — Mrs. Gracie Pierce Ray, 78, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.
Mrs. Ray was born in Waycross to the late Jack Pierce and Darkies Clark Pierce. She was a retired paraprofessional with the Ware County Board of Education.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ray was also preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Diane Ray; and six siblings, Rogers Pierce, Remer Pierce, John W. Pierce, Robert Pierce, Ora Lee King and Eugene Pierce.
Mrs. Ray is survived by her husband, Charles Ray, Sr. of Waycross; a daughter, Rhonda Kelly of Waycross; a son, Charles Ray, Jr. (Wanda) of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Marche’ T. Kelly and Rahkeem Armstrong; a brother, Larry Pierce (Gwen) of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held today (Saturday, June 24, 2023) at Community Holiness Church on Blackwell Street at 11 a.m.
Burial followed in Hazzard Hill Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends Friday evening at Music Funeral Home from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m.
