Pierce County Schools will implement Parent Square, a new communication platform, effective immediately.
Parent Square will replace the previous platform, Living Tree, which ceased operations last month. The school system had been using Living Tree since the 2019-2020 school year.
The school board approved purchasing Parent Square at their monthly work session Thursday morning. The $19,000 cost of the program will be covered by Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER), which is part of the federal COVID-19 relief program.
Parent Square offers district-wide notifications, school-wide services and safe classroom/teacher communications as part of its program.
Parent Square can be integrated with the school system’s current information system.
It includes an easy-to-use app for parents and allows them the ability to easily customize how (app, email, text message) and when (immediately/once a day) they receive notifications.
