Gregory “Greg” Paul Strickland

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Mr. Gregory “Greg” Paul Strickland, age 60, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 18, 2023, at The Morris Center Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Jacksonville, Fla.

Born August 19, 1962, in Jacksonville, he was a son of Linnie Johnson Arpen and the late Claude Strickland. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Strickland was gifted with many talents. He worked in various trades in the construction industry including as a brick/block mason, electrician, carpenter, and in drafting.  Strickland also built and refinished furniture.

He was also an artist, enjoying painting and drawing pictures, and was a talented musician and singer who enjoyed playing his guitar. Strickland enjoyed fishing, cracking jokes and making people laugh, dearly loved his family and spending time with them, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Ashlee, who was the love of his life.

Survivors include his daughter, Ashlee Lynn Strickland of Jacksonville, Fla.; his mother and stepfather, Linnie Johnson and Ronald Arpen of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, June 21 in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Wheeler officiating.  

Burial followed in the New Home Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care, “George and Margaret Morris Center for Caring”, 266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Fla. 32257.
